Potsdam
The city of Potsdam is definitely a “must”.
Upon arrival in Potsdam a short orientation tour on the way to the palaces will
introduce the guests to this quaint city (Dutch Quarter,
the Brandenburg Gate, Hunter’s Gate, Russian Colony etc.). |
|
Probably the most famous palace in Potsdam is Sanssouci which was built by Frederick the Great of Prussia in
1740 in his favourite style-regal rococo. On the grounds
you can find many statues, beautiful gardens and fountains,
including the Chinese Teahouse which has a collection of both Berlin and Meissen
porcelain. On the other side of the park is the New
Palace, which is much grander
than the Sanssouci, and is certainly more richly furnished too. It’s
really a visit worthy. Afterwards the guests can have a little walk in the
impressive park or do some shopping through the Dutch-Quarter.
