BERLIN

A turbulent history and vibrant cultural highlights make Berlin to one of the most fascinating metropolis in the world.  Our comprehensive Berlin tour gives you the unique opportunity to see the mayor highlights together with our experienced guides. It is the perfect mix to make most out of your visit.

Around 800 years ago Berlin was founded as a small little village. Hardly anything remains from this time. We still would like to show you the Nikolai Quarter as well as Museums Island, the foundation areas of Berlin in our tour. Museums Island belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage today, because it holds five internationally known museums. One of the museums is the worldwide known Pergamon museum that exhibits the Pergamon altar as well as the Babylon Gate.

The Berlin Cathedral talks about another period in Berlins old history, when it ones belonged to the Prussian Empire. Other highlights during our tour that can be dated back to the Prussian empire are the Charlottenburg Palace, the summer residence of the royal family, the Victory Column, as well as historical building like the Humboldt University on the beautiful boulevard Unter den Linden.

We would like to continue our sightseeing tour now with the Reichstag. The Reichstag, our impressive parliament building was burnt in 1933 and with it the darkest chapters of Germany’s history started. Also the August Bebel Square is part of our tour, the place of the book burning in 1933 as well as the Holocaust Memorial and at the end also the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. This church was destroyed during air raids in the Second World War and till today is a ruin.

In the last part of the program we shall cover Berlin’s history as a divided city. For more than 40 years Berlin was divided in East and West Berlin. One of the most important sight concerning this part of history is the Brandenburg Gate, it was a former city gate of Berlin, but now acts as the symbol of the reunification. In 1987 Ronald Reagan requested Gorbatschow right here to open the Gate and to tear down this Wall. We will also see parts of the notorious Berlin Wall itself as well as Checkpoint Charlie, the most famous border crossing in Berlin.
During our tour you will also have time to stroll on the Kurfurtendamm, Berlins main shopping avenue, as well as include a typical lunch throughout the tour (own expense). Keep in mind that this is your private, exclusive tour so fell free at any time to request any additional stops or inside visits. Your guide will gladly give you suggestions and recommendations.
